In 2012 the Government is introducing a new pension scheme called the National Employer Savings Trust (NEST). Every employer, even if you only employ one person, will have to contribute at least 3% into their employee NEST account. Alternatively an approved pension scheme can be established which would normally be an employer's Group Personal Pension Scheme.

The rules are complicated and in addition if you fail to comply with these rules it can be deemed to be a criminal offence. Even if you already have a scheme in place a review will establish whether it is fit for purpose and meets the new regulatory requirements.
